My main point is that you should try to understand where they're coming from. If it's true that they rip you off as much as they do, I think their situation can justify that. Like you said there's too many people, which makes things competitive. They also are under a lot of pressure to bring money home to their family due to face or for survival, depending on the situation. I just wish you wouldn't call them dumb and stupid and make what I would call somewhat racist or at least culturally racist statements. I think many people here are not that conniving. In fact I believe many people here are simply naive. Most people here don't really know much about the world. They see it as China and America. Most people do not have a broad view of things. I assumed that it's because I'm in a small town. Next year I hope to be in a bigger city. It the case is still the same, I will probably decide that another language may be worth studying. I may also move because the women here, though seemingly lovely, are also very conniving. They change after marriage. And if you find a good one she's probably been broken down by the system and is very depressed. Overall though they are like infants. They wear clothes and literally act like three year olds. It is disgusting to see a girl enthralled by the perfection of a pure white Chinese girl with no mind who faints under the slightest pressure. And I wonder if the men ever question the appropriateness of attraction to girls who masquarade in pre-pubescent outfits.
But maybe it's easy to go down this route of hatred toward Chinese because they're so different. I believe that the two groups will probably never truly come together and the world will probably be destroyed soon do to people not understanding each other. But I also want to try to understand them. I hope you can do the same. And if you need to make an obscene comment at least back it up.

I don't get a lot involved with older people ; but then I have to say that that generation is usually a lot nicer but then they are uneducated.

And about the racism and the "cheap, inappropriate shots" :
- Do you really think a Chinese will ever admit in the first place that he/she does not like black or indian people ? (as in dislike and hate ; and not "those people are ugly")
- When I order noodles in a restaurant, the same dish as what a Chinese person is eating (sitting on a another table) and then the waitress claims they don't serve noodles. How do you call that ?!
- When i take a taxi, the driver will happily drive a few extra miles...
- Seldom I get exactly what I order or buy. They always give me a service/good that is similar, but broken, or.... Chinese do this because they are either racist, either they are too dumb to serve the proper thing. Yes this happens with Chinese as well, but to me it happens ALL the time.
- Even yesterday, Chinese people don't follow the queue, they just get in front of me. Everytime, no matter how little space there is between me and the one in front of me.
- This one you will love : what is Tibet about ? What is Xinjiang about ? The Han simply don't like them because Tibetans and people from Xinjiang (turkish) are a different race. This is the purest form of racism (even their laws are different from Han). It's even embedded in the Chinese constitution.

Good luck with your happy time in China :-)

I think maybe you are around too many business people in China. I've been here for five months and I do agree with some of the things you say. For instance, it's true people here do not understand humor and there does seem to be a misunderstanding of what's racist and not. For instance I've heard people say Indian women are ugly because they are very dark, but they don't considered that racist. To their credit they're not used to living with lots of different types of people. I also think there is a lack of creativity. And most people usually just believe whatever they're told whether it's from a scientific research paper or from the television. But sometimes I think you take some cheap shots that are not very appropriate. Like I think many Chinese are genuinely nice, especially older people. I think if money is involved things become amoral. We can see that in China's involvement around the world, which is both positive and negative.
I am vague because I do not wish to say anything politically charged.
