The way China rules
After the Japanese war (second World War), Mao motivated Chinese women to give more birth. Mao was convinced that a bigger population would mean a better defense for China in case of war. “The more people=the more soldiers” is what Mao thought. Mao did not consider that besides “quantity”, “quality” might be a good defense-mechanism as well (such as good equipment, or military strategy). The upcoming years, the population in China would grow and the government could no longer feed all those people. The result : famines. Thus, mistake number 1 : “give more birth”. Mao did not consider the consequences of his policies.
Then in 1979, Deng Xiaoping decides to introduce the one child policy. The years after that, China notices a huge imbalance in gender : there are too many boys compared to girls. Reason is that Chinese parents want a son to carry on the family name and care for them in their old age. Result : increase in abortions of girls, even killing of baby daughters, orphanages across China see a dramatic upswing in the number of healthy girls entering their doors, more prostitution, coerced abortions of 2nd child by the government (mandatory abortions), forced sterilizations, social instability, the creation of a very old population, a generation of “little emperors” (=indulged boys who are often overweight, arrogant and lacking in social skills). etc. All those Chinese males, unable to have intercourse, you realize that this creates serious social instability. Thus, mistake number 2 : “one child policy”.
Today, it starts already in Shanghai, the policymakers allow couples to have 2 babies. The change in policy was made because overtime (due to the gender-imbalance), there will not be enough mom’s to bring babies, as there are too many males, all due to the one child policy. Another problem that arises today is that the population is aging in China, thus the working population decreases. This makes the cost of living higher as the total income decreases. By now, the cost of living has increased, so couples can not afford to educate a second child. Mistake number 3 : “adjust one child policy when it’s too late”.
This “square illogical thinking” (cf. policies) is typical for China. It’s like putting a child with limited brain-capacity in charge of a country. One, that does not consider the consequences of implementing certain policies, but rather one that just implements what looks like a solution and then later turns out to be a failure.
Some people even try to defend the one child policy : they say “it’s the only way to control the expansion of the population”. Well here is some news : a government would not have to create such a one child policy if Mao would not have pushed for larger families.
Some alternatives to the one child policy : You could for example educate people and explain them the consequences of an increasing population ; this way people could change their lives themselves, only by understanding the problem rather than enforcing policies. But then on the other hand, Chinese people don’t know what social responsibility implies.
The problem remains : the population of China will more and more consist out of agitated males, resulting in crime and prostitution.
